One Piece TCG OP-12: Everything You Need to Know Before Release

Bandai is finally giving Egghead Arc the booster set it deserves, and OP-12 is shaping up to be the biggest meta shift since the game launched in English.

If you've been on the fence about jumping into the One Piece TCG, this is the set. Here's why.

What's in the set

OP-12 brings 252 new cards across all 10 colors, with a heavy focus on Egghead Arc characters:

  • Gear 5 Luffy finally gets a leader card worthy of the form
  • Vegapunk Stella as a Stage 0 leader — first-ever scientist archetype
  • Seraphim units across Black, Blue, and Purple
  • A reworked Kuma package that's already breaking format in Japan

The meta shake-up

For the last three sets, Black/Yellow Yamato and Green/Blue Doffy have dominated regional top cuts. OP-12 changes that.

The new tier 1 contenders:

  1. Gear 5 Luffy (R/Y) — explosive turn-4 lethal lines with the right Shanks supports.
  2. Vegapunk Stage 0 (B) — a true control deck with card draw at every cost line.
  3. Saturn (P) — Egghead arc villain finally lands a leader spot. Mono-purple ramp is back.

Decks that just got worse:

  • Mono-Yellow Enel — counters now exist in the Seraphim package.
  • Green/Yellow Yamato — loses the speed race to Gear 5 by a full turn.

Chase cards (and what they'll cost)

We expect three cards to be in the good luck pulling these tier:

  • Gear 5 Luffy SP (Special Parallel) — projected $200–$350 after release.
  • Vegapunk Manga Art — these always inflate. $400+ at launch, then settles.
  • Saturn SR Alt — the dark horse. Could be the most expensive card in the set if Saturn decks pop off in Japan first.

Should you preorder?

Three rules we live by:

  1. Preorder boxes at MSRP only. If a retailer is already marking up sealed product, wait two weeks post-release. Prices almost always dip.
  2. Don't preorder singles you can't pull yourself. Singles drop hard in the first 14 days as openers flood the market.
  3. Buy a sealed case if you play competitive. You'll need the playset of Gear 5 anyway, and case pull rates make it cheaper than chasing singles.

Release calendar

  • Japan: Already out — meta data is live
  • English release: Late June 2026
  • Tournament legal: Two weeks after English release for OP regionals

We'll have a full set review the day English packs hit. Until then, keep an eye on the stock tracker — preorders go live this week at most major retailers.
