What's the difference between a desk mat and a mouse pad?
Size and job. A mouse pad covers the mouse area only, usually under 400 mm wide. A desk mat runs the full width of a keyboard and mouse — typically 800 to 900 mm — so it also protects the desk surface and keeps the setup visually tied together.
What size desk mat should I buy?
Measure your usable desk depth and the width you want covered. 800 x 300 mm suits a compact desk with a tenkeyless keyboard; 900 x 400 mm is the common extended size for a full keyboard plus low-sensitivity mouse movement. Leave a few centimetres clear at the desk edge.
How do I clean a cloth desk mat or mouse pad?
Lukewarm water, a little mild soap, a soft brush or cloth in gentle circles, rinse until the water runs clear, then dry flat and fully before use. Keep it out of the washing machine and the dryer — heat and agitation delaminate the rubber base.
